Free Software and it's communities should stay focused on Free Software topics only. It's better not to mix software. RMS critiques should not be brought through the FS communities because then we lose the meaning of those communities. Critiques are okay, bring them in political communities. Don't mix concepts. I know it's hard to accept but someone political views does not affect their views on Free Software. Cancelling people in one topic does not implies that he is wrong in every other topic he is active. It's stupid to think that choosing dubious ideas in one topic suddenly makes this individual not eligible for any other topic. That is a cross topic cancelation that does not have any sense. This cross topic cancelation is wrong. For example I may not agree with Lemmy devs about their political views, but yet I appreciate them for their Lemmy development, etc. I may critique them on political communities, but that doesn't mean that they should be canceled from developing Lemmy or any free software project. For example Heisenberg and other scientific people were aligned with the Nazis in WWII. That doesn't mean that their scientific development and image has to be canceled because of their political views. Yes it's hard to accept, but it's what is reasonable. Topics are separated naturally. If you knew Heisenberg only for his scientific development then you would think he is a great scientific. If you later knew what he did politically that wouldn't change the fact that he is a great scientific. Do not try to mix topics that are not related.

> autistic people are often specifically targeted for abuse and even seen as deserving of abuse Is this irony? Because to me it seems like RMS is the target for abuse here.

> there was a time when 13 *was* considered adult Isn't it crazy what they used to think back in 2022! https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/japan-raises-the-age-of-sexual-consent-to-16-from-13-which-was-among-the-worlds-lowest

reason: japan is famously a country which does not have issues with child abuse and normalization of child sexual abuse material

> when he threatened suicide if Betsy did not agree to date him I skipped to the section on allegations of misconduct and stopped reading here. They just quoted Stallman saying he didn't threaten suicide and then the (nameless, cowardly) authors immediately say "he theratened suicide". Despicable. There is nobody to back up Betsy's side. There's no response from Betsy to Stallman's recent comments in the incident. And yet this is the first "corroborated" example they come out with. This site is another insidious hit piece. I pity the authors that they're so twisted and power-hungry in their relentless attacking of a man who has clearly suffered for having a different mind to most and yet also contributed so much. Much more, I would guess, than these snakes will ever contribute.

Because in recent years they have been weaponizing gender politics to try to "cancel" good projects for no reason. "Silence is violence", forced CoC adoption, over-zealous use of the word "transphobe", ridiculous terminology changes (master/slave etc.), attempts to ban "wrongthink", you name it. And if you don't comply, they come after you in every way possible, often with a few dedicated individuals dedicating all of their free time to investigating every possible company the project touches and then attacking them too, as well as doxxing everyone in their path. Like when recently tier-1 ISPs took it upon themselves to blackhole some websites from the whole planet? That was them too. EFF even wrote multiple articles about it.

Recently trans sjws have realized that companies and people will often cave to their demands because they're a protected class, and they're butthurt that they got bullied as kids, so now this is payback to them, the bullied becoming the bully and such.

>waaaah proprietary services keep breaking ToS-breaking third-party tools, why is foss bad? Some FOSS stuff *does* suck, like peertube and pulseaudio, but your problem is pretty clearly your dependence on Google. Surprise, they hate FOSS.
